The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is a streamlined admission procedure conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. It facilitates the allocation of seats in engineering colleges based on MHT-CET marks.
Types of Candidates
Type A: Maharashtra State Candidates
- Criteria:
- Candidates who have passed SSC and HSC (or equivalent) from a recognized institution in Maharashtra.
- Parents should be domiciled in Maharashtra.
- Candidates who have completed a Diploma in Engineering and Technology from Maharashtra.
Type B: Candidates with Maharashtra Domicile
- Criteria:
- Candidates who do not fall under Type A but have a parent who is domiciled in Maharashtra.
Type C: Sons and Daughters of Central Government / Government of India Undertaking Employees
- Criteria:
- Candidates whose parent is a central government employee or an employee of Government of India Undertakings.
- The parent should have been posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra before the last date of CAP application submission.
Type D: Sons and Daughters of Maharashtra State / Maharashtra State Government Undertaking Employees
- Criteria:
- Candidates whose parent is an employee of the Government of Maharashtra or its undertakings.
Type E: Candidates from Maharashtra-Karnataka Border Area
- Criteria:
- Candidates whose mother tongue is Marathi and who reside in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area.
Step-by-Step CAP Process
1. Online Registration
- Visit the official CAP website: cetcell.mahacet.org
- Register by creating a profile and providing necessary details.
2. Document Verification
- Visit the nearest Facilitation Center (FC) for document verification.
- Carry original documents and a set of photocopies.
- Documents include:
- SSC and HSC Marksheet
- MHT-CET Scorecard
- Domicile Certificate (for Types A, B, E)
- Parent’s Employment Certificate (for Types C, D)
- Category Certificate (if applicable)

3. Merit List Publication
